So, being that I
flipping love Halloween, I really wanted to do something special for the month of October, like a video released everyday. But what to draw? I looked around for different ideas and couldn't find an already existing one I liked, so I made my own. Now I love designing characters, that's actually what I'm aiming for as a career (if this Internet stuff doesn't work out...) so I wanted to make something like that, but not your usual character redesigns, something more personalized, more fun than just "draw your character like [insert over-used genre] here." So here it is, my Design-Fest! Some days are more easy than others, some days literally ask to redesign your whole character from scratch. You're more than welcome to follow along with me or do it at your own pace, just be creative and have fun with it. If you do one of these though, tag me in it, I'd love to see what you make. Just have fun and try not to get too stressed with any of the days.
Rules
- Must be an Original Character, not a Fan Character, meaning not an "oc" from My Little Pony, Steven Universe, Bendy and the Ink Machine, etc.
- If you don't have an OC, feel free to use an avatar of yourself
- The design must change every time, if your character has a specific birthmark, scar, or tattoo, you can keep that, but the overall design of the character should change and fit properly with the theme for that day
- Don't just copy someone else's design, try an add your own twist to it
- Have fun and be creative!

Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still,
that is the time when they are present. Redesign your character as a ghost,
perhaps one of the 999 living in the famous "Haunted Mansion," try and reflect
Day 2: Day of The Dead
Well, your character has found a way to live on from whatever death you concocted.
Maybe they live in some fantastical world of the dead or literally came out of their grave,
but they are still alive one way or another. Maybe they hang out with the Corpse Bride
or live off of human brains, but they are still around.
Redesign your character as the living dead, from sugar skulls to rotting flesh, the choice is yours.
Day 3: Someday My Prince Will ComeDoes your character dream of their happily ever after and true love's kiss?
Do they remain locked in a tower singing about the life they dream to have?
No? Well they do now. Redesign your character to fit in with the animated
singing princesses of the world, yes, even if they're a guy, they had better look the part.
Your character had better get their magic sword ready, they're about to slay the beast guarding the beautiful princess locked away in a tower.Redesign your character to fit among the princes and heroes
as they chat about the long journey they had to taketo save their soul mate. From Disney to The Legend of Zelda,
your magical hero has a wide world to explore.
Day 5: Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust
Your character may be small, maybe even invisible to the eyes of man, maybe they even live in tiny homes made from flowers or other plant life. But what they lack in size, they make up for in magic.
Redesign your character as a magical fairy or pixie with some magical power,
wether that is controlling water, summoning sunbeams, or helping flowers bloom,
they'd feel at home out in nature with their other magical friends, maybe even a talking animal or two.
Day 6: Just a Poor Sinner
Oh man, your character messed up in their lives,
now they have to atone for their sins, in the world of the dead.Redesign your character to represent one of the 7 Deadly Sins,
preferably one they actually commit in their story.From Greed to Gluttony, your character,
even if they seem perfectly sweet and innocent, was quite the baddie.
Day 7: Magic of a Pure Heart
Oh my, seems a cute talking mascot has popped out of nowhere and chosen your character to save the world. How? Well by putting on a cute outfit and using sparkles, hearts, and a catchphrase of course!
Redesign your character as if they've just been thrown into the world of a magical girl.
From Sailor Moon to Pretty Cure to Madoka Magica, your character, whether they like it or not,
Day 8: Treasures of the Galaxy
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I didn't have enough Star Wars knowledge to make references...Redesign your character so they can rub elbows with Han Solo or even bump into the Guardians of the Galaxy while they travel through space on a grand quest to find the lost treasure of planet something of other.
Day 9: Part of Your World
Well, your character may not be part of your world,
but they are part of the world down where it's wetter, take it from me.
Redesign your character as a mermaid, try and pick fish that maybe match some aspect of them, their personality, original design, go wild.
Better dust of those broomsticks and whip out those spell books,seems your character has gotten into witchcraft and wizardry. Redesign your character as a witch or warlock, feel free to go as cartoony or realistic as you want.Maybe they've taken an interest in being a wiccan, or maybe they're full on sacrificing innocents on the solstice. Perhaps they take inspiration from the Wicked Witch herself, or they've come across the Sanderson Sisters, or maybe they'd like something more witches in the Winx Club, who knows, feel free to pick any style of witches and go wild.
Day 11: Good to Be Bad
It's so boring to be the good guy, am I right? Villains always get the cool stuff.Whether petting a cat in a high backed chair or singing about their "Friends on the Other Side," your character is definitely not one of the good guys.
Redesign your character as a villain, whether in their own story or the some other fantastical world,
ranging from subtle to over the top, your character is ready to monologue or sing about their plan to take over the world!
Day 12: Play the Game
Your going to play the game and play it all day,from Metal Gear Solid to Tekken 3, from Omega Boost to Resident Evil.Your character now lives in your favorite video game.Redesign your character to blend in perfectly with the characters from your favorite video game, simple as that, or complicated as that, depends on your preference. Try and steal clear of mobile games and stick to characters like Sonic, Mario, Master Chief, Lara Croft, or Link.
Day 13: Master of Fright
Boys and girls of every age? Wouldn't you like to see something strange?
Specializing in scaring mortals and making everyone's favorite spooky scary holiday,
your character is now definitely something strange, residing among
demons, vampires, walking rag dolls and the Pumpkin King himself.
Redesign your character so they fit in with the other residents of Halloweentown.
Now a machine, an imitation of life, made of metal and moving gears and
with a brain of motherboards and AI, it seems your character is now mechanical.
Redesign your character as a robot, as steampunk or futuristic as you please,
but they can't have any trace of human left. They are through and through a machine.
Maybe your character isn't taking leaps of faith into hay bales or sporting a cool hood,
but there is one thing they're doing, killing people and looking cool while doing it.
Redesign your character as an assassin, wether they are part of a brotherhood, a ninja clan,
or maybe a lone sniper who's really good at their job, make sure they look the part.
Day 16: Garden of ParadiseSay, what flowers does your character like? What of they actually were that flower?
Or plant, maybe your character really likes moss, I'm not judging.
Redesign your character as a personification of that plant or flower,
no limitations here, let your imagination grow.
Day 17: Valar Morghulis
As dragons fly overhead, and monsters lurk in the forest, they are on an epic quest,
collecting gold and enchanted armor along the way.
Redesign your character as they would look in a medieval world, whether in Skyrim, Game of Thrones, or literally basically every RPG ever. Feel free to get as fantastical as you want!
Day 18: Honestly, I'm Just Hungry...
What's your character's favorite food/beverage? What represents their tastes?
See what I did there? Tastes. Sorry, that was a sour pun.
Same as Gardens of Paradise theme, pick a food or beverage that represents your character and redesign them to represent that food or beverage, whether it's cherry pie or a Monster Energy Drink.
Day 19: With Great Power Comes Great ResponsibilityPull on that spandex and slap on a mask, your character has now been given superpowers.
Maybe they're more like classics like Superman and Batman or maybe something new.
Redesign your character as a crime fighting superhero who's making the world a better place,
or trying to, and try to reflect their superpowers in their design.
Day 20: Fandom FrenzyAlright, go nuts here, we're all nerds for something, pick your favorite property
like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, even Five Nights at Freddy's.
So long as it's not something else you're using in this challenge, it's allowed.
Redesign your character to match the world of your choosing and go nuts,
just make sure they fit in to that world.
Day 21: Reverse GradientAlrighty, this one may be a bit tricky.
Pick the main color of your character, now get that color's opposite and start from there.
Maybe your character's color was a cute pink, now completely redesign your character using that sickly green as your starting point. So long as the character's personality still comes through, you're good. One catch here, it can't look like your original design, you can keep traditional features like birthmarks, scars, and tattoos, but that's it. Completely redesign your character based off on a color, good luck.
Day 22: Purely MasochisticRemember how you chose your favorite property? Now pick your least favorite. One you despise from the very core of your being. Guess what, you get to redesign your character to fit into that world, scary huh?
Redesign them so they fit in perfectly next to those characters you just can't stand. Try not to hate on that property too much, remember someone out there still enjoys it, you can poke fun at it, but don't get too crazy.
Sporting a red hood or glass slippers,
your character swapped places with the main character in an old fashioned fairy tale.
Redesign your character to look the part of the fairytale of your choosing and try and stick closely to your source material. Whether you choose Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, or Sleeping Beauty, your character should look the part. If there is a popular look for that character, like the princesses from Disney, don't just copy that design.
Day 25: Monster MashDefiantly a graveyard smash, your character has become a classic monster straight from the movies.
Maybe they lumber around with Frankenstein or howl at the moon with the Werewolf man.
Redesign your character to look like a classic monster, from ghouls to zombies, it you haven't done it yet, feel free to do it now.
Day 26: Through The Looking GlassCuriouser and curiouser, seems your character has fallen down the rabbit hole and wound up in wonderland.
Maybe it's the classic one Lewis Carroll envisioned or one of the many reimagined versions, pick one and help your character fit in with the other mad residents.
Day 27: Shaken, not StirredDressed to impress or maybe a bit more realistic, one thing is for sure.
Your character has a really cool theme song.
Redesign your character as a spy, feel free to get creative with gadgets and other tech. James Bond, Ethan Hunt, even Black Widow would be more than happy to hang out with your character.
Avast ye scurvy dogs and blooming cockroaches!
It's time to sail the seven seas in search of plunder!
Redesign your character so they look the part of a swashbuckling adventurer,
ready to down some rum and raise the anchor with their shipmates.
Day 29: Sound of Music
Now hold on, before you pull out some Julie Andrews dresses, let me explain.
Pick a song that you feel your character would like, any song at all, and redesign your character based on that.
One catch, you can't use your references for that character, you can use their colors, but no cheating. If you have your character's design completely memorized, they had better not look exactly like how you normally draw them.
Day 30: True MythsAlright, we've done monsters, fairies, all sorts of things. What haven't you done yet?
Pick any creature from mythology, from elves to gods and goddesses and redesign your character based on the mythical figure or creature you chose. Have fun, but make sure your character has some resemblance to what you based it on.
Day 31: Obligatory Origin StoryWe all start somewhere, so did your character. Sometimes, they change quite a bit from how your first drew them. This is easy, just draw them like that again, feel free to update the design a tad, but they should look more like how they started.
